Bat surveys had been carried out on a residential property on Anglesey, with bat roosts identified in two locations in the building.
Switch Ecology were commissioned to assess the existing bat survey information for the site and to apply for a licence from Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to cover the demolition of the building.
A site visit was carried out, to confirm the previous bat survey findings and the current condition of the building. Following the site visit an NRW licence application was prepared, working with the site owner to design mitigation suitable for the site.
Upon receipt of the licence Switch Ecology erected bat boxes on trees on the site and supervised the soft strip of the buildings roof. Following the soft strip and in line with the NRW licence methodology the building was demolished following the soft strip, allowing the construction of a new, more modern, building on the site, including mitigation for the bat roosts present in the original building.
