Plans were being drawn up for a two-storey extension on a residential property in Wrexham. Switch Ecology were commissioned to carry out bat surveys to support the application for planning permission.
Bat surveys of the building identified two species of bat roosting in the building, whiskered bats (Myotis mystacnius) in the roof void and common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) behind the fascia board on a single storey extension.
Switch Ecology prepared a mitigation strategy to support the application for planning permission, which was granted during early 2025. Following receipt of the planning permission Switch Ecology prepared and submitted a Natural Resources Wales (NRW) licence application to allow the works to be carried out during late 2025/early 2026.
